State SkillsUSA Directors

The Backbone of SkillsUSA’s Delivery

Who Are State Directors?

State Directors lead SkillsUSA’s state and territorial associations. These professionals serve as frontline administrators, advocates and mentors for each state or U.S. territory. They plan and coordinate membership drives, special events, state conferences and competitions – connecting the national SkillsUSA mission to classrooms across the country.

A Legacy of Leadership

Since 1965, hundreds of individuals have served as State Directors. Some served in multiple states. Many were former advisors, instructors or alumni themselves. Their service spans generations and reflects a deep commitment to student success in career and technical education.

A state leader wears many hats from program administrator to student mentor and it takes a special individual to help their members grow and shine. The relationships they build with peers, state officer teams and their state staff is unmatched. You will often find State Directors traveling to help and support each other at their events. The State Directors have their own leadership team, they hold an annual Professional Development Conference and they follow a set of State Standards of Excellence designed to sustain quality programs that deliver on the mission.
